Henry Siegel and Frank Cooper were running a highly successful department store in Chicago during the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition when they envisioned a larger store in New York City. This colossal, steel-framed, Beaux-Arts style structure, was designed by DeLemos & Cordes and at the time it was built it was the largest store in the world. This cookbook features many recipes that were fashionable at the time, but a couple recipes stand out, including a recipes for Opossum, Fricassee of Squirrels (using two squirrels), and how "To Cook a Deer's Head in Camp." Covers worn, internal pages toned, lacking a leaf between title page and preface.
