Keokuk, Iowa: J. C. Hubinger Bros. Co., 1914. Cards. Color illustrated cards, red string. Very good. 16 pages. 15 x 10 cm. This shaped pamphlet brings a sweat to our brow - reading the instructions for washing, starching, ironing, and soil removal reminds us life was a bit harder before the washing machine. After opening a successful elastic starch factory in New Haven, CT, the Hubinger Brothers opened a second starch factory in 1887 in Keokuk, Iowa. Hubinger was an early user of premiums and a strong believer in advertising. His outspoken declaration of superiority and claims were outrageous to our present day commercials but the product worked and the business was a success. 1 cm. tear to front corner, otherwise clean and crisp.
