By FITZHERBERT, Anthony
London: Printed for the Companie of Stationers, 1606. The leaves towards the end somewhat stained, some worming at the gutter, but a sound copy overall. 4to (196 x 149mm). Chiefly black letter type. Contemporary limp vellum, remnants of leather ties. Provenance: with Bernard Quaritch, Ltd. (their penciled collation note on rear pastedown). Fifth edition of Richard Crompton's enlargement. The work was first published in 1538 and was almost immediately translated into English. Many editions of the English translation followed, but no further edition in the original Law-French appeared until 1583 when Crompton issued his enlargement. STC 10982 (suggesting Adam Islip as the printer).
