"First American Edition", variant with an engraved title-page, and with "A Philosophical Poem” in the title, printed in Old English type; actually Second Unauthorized edition. A piracy with false New York imprint issued by Shelley William Benbow in London. The authorized first American edition was "published by Frances Wright and Robert Dale Owen in New York in 1831" and "reprinted in the same year with a simplified title page bearing the words 'Second Edition'" (George T. Goodspeed in The Colophon, March 1939).
