About
With roots in the 20th century, Books Tell You Why was established in its current form in 2002 in South Carolina, USA near Charleston, where history has been written and re-written many times. What started out with a few very valuable books from personal collections is expanding rapidly; Books Tell You Why has established itself as one of the leading sources for rare and autographed books in the southeastern United States. Our international customer base continues to give us great marks for outstanding service and quality of our books. Where does the name come from? Books Tell You Why? A great question. It comes from the magic exceptional books embody and convey. It comes from the fact that books talk, they tell you about the period they have been crafted in, the tools a binder used, the press that generated the imprint in the paper. Books tell you why; they make you cry, laugh, angry, sad, happy...Books tell you about the dream, the vision, the often blunt realities an author wants forge in the readers imagination. Great books are satisfying the curiosity of humankind and yet instill a whole new level of desire to learn. We are going the extra mile to connect the most discerning collectors with the stuff that dreams are made of. A word, a story, a legacy.Appraisals

A Selection of Early Dust Jackets, Children’s Books, James Bond, Fly Fishing, Exploration, Fine Press, Nobel Laureates, and More
The work of Charles van Sandwyk is a delight for all book lovers. Recalling an earlier age, his artwork portrays whimsical animals, fairies, and elves in unique, and sometimes magical settings. As a child, van Sandwyk immersed himself in the works of J. M. Barrie, Beatrix Potter, and J. R. R. Tolkien. These influences are evident in his own creations, as is his admiration for classic illustrator Arthur Rackham. Take a moment to delve into the world of Charles van Sandwyk. Be enchanted.
Books Tell You Why is pleased to offer a significant collection of books in early dust jackets, featuring a number of scarce, one-of-a-kind, and even unrecorded copies.
