About
Founded as a strictly antiquarian concern in 1984, establishing its unique website in 1997, adding SessaBks in 2001, and welcoming visitors by appointment in its premises at Philadelphia's historic Arsenal since 2006, PRB & M greeted 2022 with transition from full-time, full-service antiquarian and general bookselling to a new practice focused on IRS Qualified and other appraisals, to collection-building consultation and representation, and to bookselling by direct private offer only. We have been members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America (ABAA) and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB) since 1985; our IRS Qualified Appraiser is a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America, the organization's highest designation, USPAP compliant through 10 December 2023; and our "FAQ" on appraisal may be sent as a pdf upon email request. Our references, local to you *almost* no matter where you are, can be supplied among the Rare Book and Special Collections librarians who have been our longtime clients.
